Michael has always designed collections using classic materials that he is inherently drawn to: silver, gold, diamonds, an endless variety of semi-precious stones, as well as more unusual natural materials found in travels around the world. Early in his career, he discovered the ancient technique of granulation, in which metal is heated and formed into tiny spheres which are affixed in various patterns. Incorporating this design element alongside clean crisp lines into much of his work provides a signature that is uniquely his own. Using this wide mix of materials and an extensive vocabulary of design elements allows him to present collections that combine his modern, functional sensibility with an infinite respect for the hues, textures, and compositions abundant in nature.

Established in 1998, Soho Gem's first fine jewelry boutique opened its doors in SoHo, the trendy shopping Mecca of Manhattan. With a unique selection of delicate, feminine designs and colorful, dramatic creations success was instant. One year later, a second store opened on Madison Avenue, a street renowned for its luxury shopping. Baccarat is relocated to a legendary place situated at 11, place des Etats-Unis in Paris. The former muse of this unique private mansion, Marie-Laure de Noailles (1902-1970) threw magical parties there and in this magnificent place of pomp and tradition, made a salon dedicated to painters, writers and musicians. Time and again she would reorganize the layout and design of the mansion to suit her mood.
No setting could be better suited as the new home of Baccarat. Philippe Starck was immediately carried away by the idea of developing this magnificent project. He was given carte blanche and developed the extravagant scheme, full of wonderment and surprise for this leading international luxury brand. |

The Zales® story began in 1924 in Wichita Falls, Texas, where Morris (M.B.) Zale, William Zale, and Ben Lipshy applied their vision of providing customers with quality merchandise at the lowest possible price to the opening of the first Zales® Jewelers. Their idea to offer a higher priced product to everyone was implemented through a revolutionary credit plan of "a penny down and a dollar a week."
