A Greenwich Village fixture since 1946. When we decided to move to bigger digs recently, we thought it was only fitting that we’d end up in a New York City Landmark, the De Vinne Press Building. A charming and formidable structure, it has stood on the corner of Fourth and Lafayette Streets in Manhattan since 1885. Its façade has been carefully maintained, leaving its charming period-specific features intact.

Some of them will age gracefully in your cellar for decades to come and some are meant to be enjoyed in the freshness of their youth. Some are full bodied, sun kissed and weighty, others light, fruity and thirst quenching. Some wear their austerity and mineral flavors on their sleeve but then others, if you were to close your eyes, will transport you to a fruit orchard.

With wine’s growing popularity there are numerous shopping options for the consumer: stores on every other street corner, the internet, as well as the suburban wine and liquor emporia. In almost every other part of the world where wine is produced people drink almost exclusively the local stuff. But not in New York. Also, New York wines are rarely as cheap as the local plonk the locals everywhere else drink on a daily basis. But the wines have gotten a little less expensive and they continue to improve, so Uva Wines has recently expanded the selection of New York wines.
